Blatný: “UK” Covid mutation not spreading by community transmission in CR

The minister of health, Jan Blatný, says that a more contagious variant of Covid-19 first discovered in the UK is not yet spreading by community transmission in the Czech Republic. He said so far there were only isolated instances of the mutation of the virus in the country. Public health workers are making tracing any cases of the so-called British variant a priority and laboratories are increasing their capacity to sequence samples where the mutation is suspected, Mr. Blatný told journalists.

One confirmed case and 17 suspected ones have been recorded at a hospital in Slaný in Central Bohemia.
