Liberec police chief fired over illegal party
The president of the Czech police, Jan Švejdar, has dismissed the head of the force in the Liberec Region over his attendance at a party in a hotel on Saturday that flouted Covid-19 restrictions. The national police chief said Vladislav Husák would finish in the post at the end month.
On Monday Prime Minister Andrej Babiš described the event at a hotel in Teplice as an example of arrogant fat-cat behaviour.
Also present were Milan Hnilička, the government’s special commissioner for sport, former prime minister Jiří Paroubek, ex-MP Jiří Šlégr and ex-MP Petr Benda, who owns the venue.
