Traffic jams form at border crossings to Bavaria

Heavy traffic jams started forming at the border crossing between the Czech Republic and Bavaria on Monday morning, following Germany’s decision to introduce stricter measures for workers commuting from the Czech Republic. Traffic on the Czech side of the border could be delayed by up to two hours.

Germany added the Czech Republic to its list of high-risk coronavirus states on Sunday, which means Czech residents travelling to Germany must produce a negative test at the border.

Cross-border workers between the two countries must be regularly tested for coronavirus. While Saxony requires two compulsory coronavirus tests per week, cross-border workers in Bavaria have to produce a negative Covid-19 test every 48 hours.
