Czech politicians condemn Russia’s arrest of Navalny protesters
Foreign Minister Tomáš Petříček has condemned Russia for arresting thousands of demonstrators who protested nationwide on Saturday in support of the jailed opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
More than 3,400 demonstrators were detained at the protests, including the Kremlin critic’s wife Yulia. Mr Petříček wrote on his Twitter account that the figure was incredible number even for such a big country as Russia. He also condemned the brutal violence and repressions against freedom of speech.
Deputy Prime Minister Jan Hamáček said that the tactics of the Russian government used againstNavalny was a huge shame for the Russian Federation, revealing the regime’s fear of instability and of its own citizens.
