Vaccine registration for people below 80 to be postponed

Vaccine registration for people below the age of 80 or chronically ill will not be launched in the beginning of February as it was originally planned, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš said on Sunday. Mr Babiš said the inoculation against Covid-19 will start when there are enough vaccines. It also depends on the interest of people above the age of 80.

According to the data of the Czech Statistics Office, there are around 440,000 people above the age of 80 living in the country. The registration of people in this age group was launched on January 15. To this day, some 183,000 registered for the vaccine, but around 100,000 are still waiting to receive a specific term, which is dependent on fresh deliveries of the vaccine.
