Forty-two Czechs so far qualify for Tokyo Olympic Games

Some 42 athletes from the Czech Republic have so far qualified for the summer Olympic Games scheduled to take place in Tokyo from July 23 to August 8.

Martin Doktor, sporting director of the Czech Olympic Committee, says the number could be three times as high by the end of the qualification stage.

The team for the previous summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro included 104 athletes and was the smallest since the foundation of the Czech Republic.

Among those who have already qualified for the Tokyo games is hurdler Zuzana Hejnová, javelin thrower Jakub Vadlejch, or canoeists Jiří Prskavec and Kateřina Kudějová.
