Communist Party like to support extension of state of emergency

The leader of the Communist Party Vojtěch Filip has said the party would very likely support the extension of the state of emergency by another 30 days as proposed by the government.

Following a meeting with Prime Minister Andrej Babis on Wednesday, Mr. Filip said the state of emergency should remain in place for as long as the army was needed to help out in hospitals and care homes.

Support from the Communist is crucial for the government to win approval for its proposal. The two officials also discussed the possibility of the Czech Republic buying Russian and Chinese vaccines against Covid-19.
