Lower house approves bill on mandatory quotas on sale of domestic goods
The lower house of Parliament has approved a bill setting mandatory quotas on the sale of a certain amount of domestic agricultural products sold in stores over the size of 400 square metres.
As of next year shops over that size will have to offer 55 percent of domestic products in selected categories, such as meat and vegetables. By 2028 the minimum quota should grow to 73 percent. this does not concern stores of under 400 square metres or select goods stores.
Eight countries of the European Union have expressed reservations about the quotas saying they will discriminate against EU imported goods, which is unacceptable in the single market.
