Blatný denies triage decisions being made over Covid patients

The minister of health, Jan Blatný, has ruled out the suggestion that doctors in the Czech Republic are being forced to decide which patients receive potentially life-saving treatment for Covid-19. Speaking to reporters, Mr. Blatný strongly denied reports that medics were carrying out such triage decisions.

The minister said that if some hospitals had insufficient equipment to deal with those in a critical condition doctors should ensure their transfer to other regions. He said it would not be ethical or right to make use of help from Germany in this regard as it had more overburdened intensive care units than the Czech Republic.
