Constitutional Court rules against foreign same-sex partner adoptions of Czech children
The Constitutional Court has ruled against the proposal of the Regional Court to amend current legislation that prevents same-sex partners who are registered abroad to adopt Czech children.
Adopting children is not possible for same-sex couples in the Czech Republic and the court stated that this move should prevent the bypassing of the rule by using foreign legislation. The specific case which the court looked into was that of a same-sex couple of a Czech citizen and a citizen of Trinidad and Tabago who are living in the United States and were aiming to adopt a Czech child.
