Free antigen Covid testing to continue in Czechia

Free antigen testing for Covid-19 will continue in the Czech Republic even after January 15, when the scheme had been due to end. Announcing the decision on Thursday, Health Minister Jan Blatný said the testing had proved to be useful especially in detecting people without symptoms of the disease.

Over 950,000 antigen tests have been carried out since the scheme was launched on December 16. It has detected some 26,700 people with Covid-19, which is around five percent of the overall number. More than 10,300 of them were without any symptoms.

The free Covid testing is being conducted at around 2,000 sites, including existing testing centres and doctors’ surgeries.
