Czech Covid risk index at highest level yet for third day

The Covid-19 risk index in the Czech Republic stood at 90 points out of 100 for the third day in a row on Sunday. This is the highest point it has been at since the government’s system setting out various levels of restriction was introduced in the middle of November.

There was a slight worsening of the spread of the coronavirus among the over-65s, one of the factors used in calculating the risk index. By contrast the reproduction number went from 1.45 to 1.4. The government has imposed level five measures until at least January 10. All restaurants and hotels are closed while shops may only sell essential items. Gatherings of no more than two are allowed, there is a curfew from 9 pm and work from home is obligatory where possible.
