Cabinet to discuss easing restrictions on Sunday

The Czech cabinet is due to meet on Sunday to discuss whether to ease restrictions aimed at curbing the spread of Covid-19. Restaurants, most shops and services are now closed. However, they will be allowed to open if ministers decide to take the country down to level three on its colour-coded Covid-19 model.

The national “score” according to official calculations has for several days been at a risk level below level four, which is currently in place.  However, officials say the score is not going down quickly enough and that relatively positive numbers in Prague are skewing national statistics.

Both the minister of health, Jan Blatný, and Prime Minister Andrej Babiš have cautioned that the cabinet may not decide on a move to level three.
