Highest weekend rise in known Covid cases recorded Saturday

Some 2,046 new cases of Covid-19 were detected in the Czech Republic on Saturday, which was slightly down on the figure for the previous day, according to Ministry of Health information. Nevertheless, it was the largest rise recorded to date at a weekend, when there has tended to be less testing, and was the fourth day in a row the number exceeded 2,000; it had never surpassed 1,000 before September 9.

Some 516 people are in hospital with coronavirus, 94 of them in a serious condition.
