Czech hospitals have capacity to treat far more Covid-19 cases, Health Minister says

Czech hospitals have the capacity to handle many times more Covid-19 patients than they do now, including serious cases, Minister of Health Adam Vojtěch told reporters on Monday.

Speaking after a meeting of the government's Health Risk Council, Vojtěch said more than 25 percent of beds in anaesthesiology and resuscitation wards are now free, while intensive care units and respiratory wards are at 40 percent capacity.

Prime Minister Andrej Babiš said there are currently 305 patients with Covid-19 in hospital of whom 51 need intensive care.
