Health minister: Face masks not compulsory in classrooms

Despite the reintroduction of the country-wide obligation to wear face masks in indoor spaces, classrooms are spared from the rule, Health Minister Adam Vojtěch said at a Wednesday videoconference.

However, private sector employees working in offices will be required to cover their face from Thursday, with the exception of those who work in one space, for example in the office, with a minimal two meter distance from their colleagues.

Mr Vojtěch said that the coronavirus has been found in 144 schools since the begining of the school year on September 1.

Further exceptions to the face mask wearing rule will be in kindergartens, as well as for those who are mentally impaired, for people consuming food and drinks and for athletes during training and competitions, according to the health minister.
