Communist Party asks government to distance itself from Taiwan visit
The Communist Party, which supports the minority government of ANO and the Social Democrats in office, has asked the government to distance itself from Senate Speaker Miloš Vystrčil’s visit to Taiwan.
The party asked Foreign Minister Tomas Petříček to either declare the visit “null and void“ or resign from office.
The Communists says the government should do this because the visit goes against the country’s foreign policy line, which acknowledges the policy of “One China“, and will damage the interests of the Czech Republic.
Foreign Minister Petříček, who is currently in self-isolation, said the government’s foreign policy line is consistent and he sees no reason to respond to the Communist Party’s appeal.
