Man gets 18-month jail sentence for stealing bread-rolls during state of emergency

A homeless man who stole five bread-rolls in a shop during the coronavirus crisis has been sentenced to a year and a half in prison, the news site novinky.cz reported. The man received an extraordinarily tough sentence because he stole goods during a state of emergency and was serving a suspended sentence for theft at the time of the incident. Originally the Municipal Court in Brno sentenced him to two years in jail. The verdict of the regional court is legally binding.
