1999 - 82nd Segment: “Heaven”

On March 12th, the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary became NATO members.
On May 15th, Czech hockey players became world champions.
The Czech Republic had 10,282,784 inhabitants.
The Czech version of the song Pretty Woman, sung by Karel Gott, was played on the radio in 1999. Gott won the Czech Nightingale Award once again that year, and the group Lucie won their first ever Czech Nightingale Award.
The singer Anna K was named female singer of the year for the first time in her career, thanks to her hit song “Heaven,” written for her by composer Tomáš Vartecký and lyricist Filip Horáček. It was from her third album which was released that same year.
