Most Czechs don’t associate Prague's Petschek Palace with architecture but rather with its dark history as the headquarters of the Gestapo during WWII.

Constructed in the late 1990s, the Myslbek Palace is one of Prague’s newest modern palaces, connecting the city’s main shopping boulevard with the Old Town behind it.

Svět Palace in Libeň was constructed as a grandiose building. Listed as a cultural monument, the palace has unfortunately fallen into disrepair under a neglectful owner.

Built at the end of the 1930s, the Skleněný palác or Glass Palace is a late functionalist-style apartment building constructed for Prague’s middle class.

One of the landmarks of Prague’s Holešovice district, the Veletržní palác or Trade Fair Palace was once the largest functionalist building in the world.

Although perhaps not as well-known as the nearby Lucerna, Prague's Koruna Palace is an architectural masterpiece.

The Platýz Palace is a grand building located on Prague’s Národní třída, not far from Jungmannovo náměstí. Its courtyard offers visitors a break from the busy city centre.

With its rooftop terraces and passages Lucerna palace is an iconic building, unique even for the historic centre of Prague.  

The Soviet-led Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia was one of the most important and traumatic events in modern Czech history.
