Tomas Bata is the son of the philanthropic industrialist who founded the world's largest shoe manufacturing company--The Bata Shoe Organisation--in Zlin Czechoslovakia, way back in 1892. Together with his wife Sonja, they are a couple with shoes on the brain. He has provided millions across the globe with footwear while she has hoarded tens of thousands of pairs of shoes: the old, the rare and the cast-offs of the famous.
