Technology and architecture merge in new high-tech business/community centre
Prague's first purpose-built office building for e-business boasts an infrastructure incomparable to any in the Czech Republic - and perhaps anywhere in continental Europe. The technical capacities of the new Pricewaterhouse Coopers Business and Community Centre include real-time video conferencing and a custom-built internal business processing system. The new eight-story building, located right beside Prague's I. P. Pavlova Metro station, is the last word in state-of-the-art information technology. The building has 21 kilometres of data cabling on each floor, and is the first in Central Europe to have 10 gigabite fibre optics. This may not mean much to you or me, but the turbo-powered fibre optics will allow real-time video conferencing, with no delays. Walter Dackaw, of the AIG group which owns the building, told us more about the technical wizardry inside it: The building boasts 7,000 square metres of office space on six floors, topped by a company café. The ground floor contains a large multimedia conference centre and boardroom that will be open to public use as well as company needs. The conference centre has already been booked for various art exhibitions and other public functions, so it will be used to its fullest capacity.
