Mulled wine and mistletoe mark onset of Christmas cheer
Roasted chestnuts, mulled wine, rum punch and grog have hit the streets of downtown Prague, and that means one thing and one thing only: Christmas is coming and the Christmas markets are underway once again. Newcomers to Prague might be unaware that the Christmas spirit is taken very seriously by the locals. Pavla Navratilova took to the streets to find out more:
Last week saw the beginning of Prague's official preparations for Christmas. Decorations and full-sized Christmas trees have sprung up in various town squares around the city, and with them dozens of marketplace stalls vying to sell wooden toys, woolen mittens, crystal, and many other goodies. But it's still only November; Christmas is more than a month away. How has the first weekend of Christmas cheer fared?
