Sport now and starting with the news that the chairman of the Czech Football Federation Frantisek Chvalovsky is being investigated for fraud. The head of the economic crime investigation department, Milan Siska has for the past six months been attempting to prove that the CAS-Satrapa group - which is controlled by Chvalovsky - has been misusing loans it received from Komercni Banka.
One of the alleged misuses is reported to be football related. Chvalovsky has a small stake in the Gambrinus League team Chmel Blsany - a situation that many feel doesn't sit easily with his position as the head of the national federation. If the fraud allegations are proved in court to be true, then Chvalovsky could face up to 12 years in jail.
Staying with football and there were a lot of disappointed Borussia Dortmund fans this weekend, as the club's record signing Tomas Rosicky was forced to sit out what would have been his debut. "Rosomania" as the Germans are calling it was put on hold on Saturday as the 20-year-old midfielder failed to overcome a severe throat infection. It didn't alter the result much, though - Rosicky's new team still beat Energie Cottbus by two goals to nil.
Turning to tennis and although the senior players didn't even get beyond the fourth round of the Australian Open, there was at least some success for the Czech kids Down Under. Petra Cetkovska and Barbara Strycova took the Girls Doubles Title by beating the Russian pairing of Bastrikova and Kuznetsova in the final - 7-6, 1-6, 6-4.
Paris now and the World short-course swimming championships. In the Women's 800 m freestyle, Jana Pechanova of the Czech Republic finished first in a time 8:33:62. Sarah Collings of the UK and Simona Ricciadi of Italy came in 2nd and 3rd respectively.
