Czech football team escape with draw vs. USA
"It couldn't have been worse." That was the view of the coach of the Czech Olympic Football team, Karek Bruckner, as his young charges were lucky to escape with a point from their opening group encounter against the United States in Canberra.
A 52nd-minute penalty by Lukas Dosek saved the Czechs' blushes after they had twice fallen behind. After the match I had a word with one of the Czech Radio men Down Under, Miroslav Konvalina, who agreed that it hadn't been the most impressive start for the Czech Olympic team:
