No world championship medal for judo’s Krpálek

Double Olympic champion Lukáš Krpálek has exited this year’s World Judo Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan without a medal after being defeated in the quarter-finals. The Czech, who is 31, lost to Kim Min-jong of South Korea in a top weight category bout.

Krpálek is the most successful ever Czech judoka, having picked up two Olympic gold medals, two world champion titles and three European golds.
