Night curfew will apply on New Years’ Eve

The authorities have warned that the night curfew in force in the Czech Republic will apply on New Year’s Eve without exceptions, meaning that people will have to forego the traditional street parties and champagne celebrations outdoors.

The measures in place prohibit drinking alcohol in public and a maximum of two people are allowed to gather.

The night curfew is from 9pm until 5am. People can invite friends and family to their homes but they must arrive before 9pm.

Police officers can impose fines of up to 10,000 crowns for violations.
