The World War II bomb discovered at Unipetrol’s chemical plant near Litvínov earlier this week will be difused on Thursday or Friday, not on Wednesday as originally planned, Karel Čadil, the head of the police bomb squad, told Czech Television on Saturday. The postponment is neccesary due to a large number of protective sandbags needed, he said.

The british aerial bomb, discovered on Wednesday during excavation works at the site, features a chemical timer that prohibits movement until Tuesday afternoon. It is not yet clear when the chemical plant will resume operations.

This year's harvest in Czechia was one of the fastest in recent years, Agriculture Minister Marek Výborný said on Saturday at the annual agriculture trade fair Země živitelka in České Budějovice. Farmers have already harvested 99.8 percent of all grain and sugar beet.

However, the Czech Agrarian Chamber says this year’s grain harvest, which amounted to 7.086 million tonnes, was the second worst in the last 12 years. The rapeseed harvest reached 961,500 tonnes, which is the lowest figure since 2003. According to the chamber, farmers will lose CZK 7 billion in revenues from grains and oilseeds.
