More than a hundred people turned up at the Kbely airport on Saturday to welcome Mr Vystrčil and other members of the Senate delegation to Taiwan.
At a press conference following his arrival, Mr Vystrčil told journalists he wants to acquaint PM Babiš and other ministers with the results of the trip. He also said there are numerous possibilities of cooperation with the Asian country, which could help the Czech Republic overcome the looming economic crisis.
The trip of the Czech parliamentary delegation led by Mr Vystrčil has been widely criticized by Beijing. In a letter published on its Twitter account on Friday, the Chinese embassy described it as open provocation, which harmed the countries’ mutual relationship.

The Tatra Around the World 2 expedition is returning to Prague prematurely due to complications caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Czech Radio reported on Friday. According to one of the expedition members the Iranian authorities refused to extend their visas and neighbour states refused them entry. The expedition, which left Prague in February, crossed the Balkans before getting stuck in Turkey during the first wave of Covid-19. After three months it managed to get to Iran where the team spent another 90 days.
The Tatra Around the World 2 expedition was meant to cover 270,000 kilometres across 70 countries and five continents over a period of three years. The project was a follow-up on a similar expedition undertaken in the late 1980s and early 1990s and one of its aims was to promote Czech industry abroad.
