Mr. Babiš said on social media that Mr. Orban had always fought for a stronger Europe and that in turbulent times choosing stability mattered more than ever.

The Motorists party’s minister of culture, Oto Klempíř, says planned legislation will end a system under which Czech Television and Czech Radio are funded by license fees and place the broadcasters under the state budget.
Mr. Klempíř, whose officials are drafting such legislation, said after meetings with the stations’ director generals that the two entities would not be merged; this idea has been backed by ANO and Freedom and Direct Democracy, the two other parties in the government.
The coalition is also working on interim legislation to waive license fees for some sections of the population, a move that Czech Television and Czech Radio say would greatly reduce their budgets.

Plans to provide state-backed mortgage support for young families and people in essential professions in Czechia will not go ahead for now, Czech Television reported on Saturday. Government leaders ANO had included such a provision in the party’s pre-election manifesto, but it does not figure in current economic plans.
ANO’s finance minister, Alena Schillerová, told Czech Television that the matter would be further discussed at the political level, adding that it would be part of a broader package of housing support. But Petr Kulhánek of the opposition Mayors said the stated priority was as yet an empty proclamation.
