Newcastle disease confirmed at small poultry farm in northern Moravia
Veterinary officials have confirmed an outbreak of Newcastle disease at a small poultry farm in the Bruntál District, in northern Moravia. According to vets the infection appears to have spread from wild birds to domestic chickens and pigeons. It is the second outbreak of the disease this year. The breeder reported the deaths of 42 pigeons within six days and lab tests confirmed the virus. The authorities have introduced emergency measures, including protective and surveillance zones extending into neighbouring Poland.
