New variant not yet detected in Czech Republic

The new, more contagious variant of coronavirus, which is spreading in the UK has not yet been detected in the Czech Republic, Barbora Macková, head of the Centre for Epidemiology and Microbiology of the State Institute of Public Health said on Thursday.

More contagious mutations have already appeared in Germany and France, but also in the USA, Japan and the United Arab Emirates.

While the new variant does not cause a more severe course of the disease, experts are worried that it could cause the collapse of the health system.
