New police data suggests crime rate fell in 2020

From January to November 2020, Czech police registered roughly 156,000 crimes committed in the country according to statistics published on their website on Wednesday. That is 29,000 cases fewer than during the same period in 2019. Incidents of theft, property crimes and general cases of criminality have all decreased.

Unless a major increase is registered in December, the information suggests that 2020 saw criminality fall compared to 2019. For several years now this declining rate of crimes has been a trend, with 2019 being a rare exception.
