Nearly 15,000 Covid cases recorded Tuesday as numbers shoot up

Some 14,539 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded in the Czech Republic on Tuesday, according to Ministry of Health statistics.

The figure is almost 50 percent higher than that recorded on the same day last week and represents the biggest one-day jump since mid-March. It also represents an increase of around 5,000 on Monday and is the largest rise seen so far in the Covid wave currently hitting the Czech Republic.

There are currently almost 3,300 people in Czech hospitals with the coronavirus.
