Navalis celebrations commemorate beatification of St John of Nepomuk

Celebrations held to commemorate 300 years since the beatification of St John of Nepomuk, the patron saint of boatmen and bridges, take place in Prague on Saturday. The popular Navalis celebrations will begin with a solemn mass in the Cathedral of St. Vitus followed by a procession across Charles Bridge to Křižovnické Square.

The traditional water celebrations with gondolas on the Vltava River, will not be held this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The popular annual event called Navalis, dates back to the 17th century and was renewed in the Czech capital in 2009.
