NATO official urges more contributions to Czech-led munitions initiative for Ukraine
The Czech-led initiative to supply artillery ammunition to Ukraine aims to secure munitions worth €5 billion (over CZK 121 billion) for Kyiv, but has so far received pledges totaling only €1.4 billion, a senior unnamed NATO military official told journalists in Brussels on Wednesday.
The official noted that the Czech government has confirmed it will continue to coordinate the initiative and called on allies to keep contributing.
Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš and other representatives of the Czech governing coalition had initially said they would scrap the initiative, but eventually reversed the decision, on a compromise that Prague would stop contributing to it financially.
