NATO could consider multinational drone-interceptor unit using Czech L-39NG jets

NATO could establish a multinational unit specialising in intercepting and destroying attack drones, potentially reducing the need to use expensive fighter jets and air-to-air missile stocks.

Justin Bronk, an expert at the British Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), considers the Czech L-39NG Skyfox jet, manufactured by Aero Vodochody, one of the most suitable platforms for such a unit. According to the Czech News Agency he proposed the solution in an analysis of the potential defense system.

According to Bronk, the unit could consist of around 16 to 24 aircraft, with crews focused exclusively on intercepting one-way attack drones. Elements of the unit could be deployed in countries such as Poland, Romania or the Baltic states.
