National Film Archive acquires Ivan Passer’s estate
The National Film Archive has acquired the estate of late Czech-American director Ivan Passer, including his personal diaries, photographs, correspondence, and screenplays, the archive’s spokeswoman Veronika Bokšteflová told the Czech News Agency on Thursday.
Ivan Passer, who died last year at the age of 86, was a leading filmmaker of the Czech New Wave and a close friend of the late Miloš Forman with whom he fled Czechoslovakia in 1968 and forged a celebrated career in Hollywood.
The transport of the extensive archive was organised by the National Film Archive in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Washington.
