MPs expected to lift Babiš immunity over alleged fraud case
The Czech Chamber of Deputies is likely to again strip Andrej Babiš of his parliamentary immunity so he can face prosecution over a case of alleged fraud. The lower house’s Mandates and Immunity Committee recommended this step after quizzing the state prosecutor in the case, Jaroslav Šaroch. A vote on the matter could come next week, the Czech News Agency said.
Mr. Babiš is suspected of wrongfully acquiring around CZK 50 million in EU subsidies for a conference centre near Prague. He denies any wrongdoing.
The ANO party leader has been stripped of his parliamentary immunity twice in the past.
