MPs to discuss government call for further month of state of emergency Friday
Czech MPs are due to discuss on Friday morning a government appeal to extend the current state of emergency. The minority cabinet of ANO and the Social Democrats want the state of emergency to remain in place for another 30 days, until April 27.
Most of the government’s restrictions aimed at curbing the spread of Covid-19 depend on such legislation being in place.
The government does not yet have lower house support for prolonging the state of emergency. On Tuesday the opposition Mayors & Independents said they would not back a 30-day extension.
