MPs approve bill opening way for separate enrolment of Ukrainian children in Czech schools
MPs have passed an amendment to the law that would give school principals the right to organize a separate enrolment process for Ukrainian children to primary schools, a month after the enrolment of Czech children. According to the author of the amendment, MP Renata Zajíčková from the Civic Democrats this will help schools to even out the concentration of Ukrainian children in individual classes. She claims this would help Ukrainian children integrate and learn the language faster as well as taking the pressure off teachers working with a high number of non-native speakers. The Mayors and Independents see this as a discriminatory measure and failed to support the bill.
