MP to file criminal complaint over Bečva River investigation

Petr Gazdík, a member of the parliamentary commission monitoring the investigation into the poisoning of the Bečva River last year, has said he will file a criminal complaint on the basis of which the police should investigate possible abuse of power on the part of the officials involved in the investigation. Mr. Gazdík said there were indications that some of the serious lapses made in the course of the investigation, such as the fact that samples of the water had been taken too late, may have been the  result of lobbying and pressure on the authorities by the culprits responsible. Minister of the Environment Richard Brabec has rejected the notion saying this was an ungrounded attack on the  Czech Environmental Inspectorate which conducted the investigation.
