Mortgage rates rise for sixth consecutive month
The average mortgage rate rose by 0.09 percentage points month-on-month to 5.51 percent at the beginning of September. It has increased for the sixth consecutive month, reaching its highest level since summer 2024, according to data from Swiss Life Hypoindex. The figures are based on mortgage offers available at the beginning of each month. The index tracks the average rate offered for mortgages covering 80 percent of a property's value.
