More ninth-graders accepted to secondary schools in the first round

This year, 94 percent of Czech ninth-grade students were accepted to a secondary school in the first round of entrance exams, one percent more than in 2024. According to data of the Ministry of Education, three-quarters got into their first-choice school. Overall, around 132,700 applicants applied for four-year programs, with about 118,000 admitted—similar to last year. The demand remains highest in Prague, where only 80 percent of candidates were accepted. Multi-year grammar schools remain the most competitive, with roughly half of applicants admitted to eight-year programs and a third to six-year ones. Results were published today in the DiPSy electronic system.
