More Czechs return home as evacuation flights arrive from Dubai and Amman

Czech authorities are continuing efforts to bring home citizens stranded in the Middle East amid the regional conflict. An Emirates aircraft carrying Czech passengers from Dubai landed at Prague’s Václav Havel Airport shortly before 14:00 on Thursday.

Later in the afternoon another plane carrying Czech passengers arrived from Amman in Jordan on a government-chartered Smartwings flight. The aircraft had originally been due to depart on Wednesday but turned back after a group of Czechs became stranded at the Israel–Jordan border.

According to the Foreign Ministry’s Drozd voluntary travel registration system, around 5,400 Czechs remain in countries affected by the conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran, including about 3,200 in the United Arab Emirates.
