Moravia Silesia projected to lose quarter of inhabitants by 2070
The Moravian Silesian Region is set to lose over a quarter of its inhabitants in the coming 50 years, according to a projection cited by the spokesperson for Census 2021 on Tuesday. The population of Moravia Silesia is expected to fall from the present 1.2 million to 883,000 in 2070, while the average age of inhabitants will also rise from the present 43 years to 49 years.
A population census is carried out once a decade in the Czech Republic. This year’s one, which starts at the end of March, will be the first carried out online.
