Minus 27.5C recorded in South Bohemia

Extremely low temperatures were registered in South Bohemia on Sunday morning, with 10 weather stations keeping records for at least 20 years seeing unprecedented lows for December 18.

A temperature of -27.5 degrees Celsius was recorded in the village of Kvilda in the Šumava Mountains; this was 2.5 degrees lower than the previous record at what is traditionally one of the coldest places in the country.
