Ministry of Defence presents measures to improve conditions for soldiers
The Ministry of Defence on Wednesday morning set out measures that, in their view, will improve the conditions of service for soldiers in the army from the beginning of July. The morning press conference featured Defence Minister Jana Černochová, Chief of the General Staff Karel Řehka, and State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Petr Vančura. An amendment to the Act on Professional Soldiers will come into effect on July 1st, which introduces financial benefits for members of the army, among other things.
The amendment increases the recruitment contribution up to four times the current maximum of 250,000 crowns. Other benefits that the amendment increases include a stabilisation allowance, a housing allowance, and a supplement for service abroad. According to the government, the aim of the increase is to support the replenishment of the army and the retention of current personnel.
