Minister: Govt. cannot afford more than sum earmarked for energy support

The Czech minister of finance, Zbyněk Stanjura, says the government cannot afford any more than the CZK 66 billion it has earmarked to help households and companies facing high energy costs. Mr. Stanjura said on Wednesday that the precise form and timing of the compensation was currently being discussed. However, it is certain that it will go toward electricity, gas, central heating and boiler rooms.

The figure of CZK 66 billion has been set aside for a period from October this year until September next year.

Energy costs in Czechia have been skyrocketing in recent months.
