MEP Turek will not be punished for speeding on the D5, case is shelved

The MEP and honorary president of the Motorists for Themselves party Filip Turek will not be punished for speeding on the D5 highway in the Plzeň Region this spring. In June, the police forwarded the offense to the Rokycany municipal office for administrative proceedings. The office has postponed the case, city hall spokeswoman Natálie Vainarová told ČTK on Tuesday.

In addition to speeding and holding a phone while driving, according to the police, the driver did not have a valid highway vignette, the police have forwarded this matter to the Customs Office for administrative proceedings. Mr. Turek, the leader of the Motorists' candidates in Central Bohemia for the autumn parliamentary elections, called his actions a huge mistake on Facebook on Tuesday, and said he had cooperated during the investigation, had not used his immunity, and had immediately confessed to the speeding.
